Wrought Iron…paint that is!

Next on the list was the hall bathroom! I wanted to put up a chair rail to give the walls more interest and then paint the bottom a clean crisp white and the top I wanted a dark gray blue.  I found a beautiful deep gray blue on none other than Pinterest that I just loved! The color was Wrought Iron by Benjamin Moore.
So while Zay napped and Peyton hung out in the swing I painted away…

Later Jared came in and added the chair rail for me!  So much better than the plain, boring, beige walled bathroom.

Finished! Now we need some art!

Pallet Wall

I had told my husband I would hold off on house projects for a while after Peyton was born but if you know me that didn't last long. I'm always always doing/changing  something in the house. It was about week two after coming home from the hospital that we both decided we needed to do something to start making this house a home.
We had been talking about a pallet wall to warm up with living room and after much Pinteresting (is that a word?) we came up with a plan. The fireplace was the perfect wall for our pallets. I didn't want the whole wall to be pallets so we framed out the fireplace and above it to look like it had always been there. On the sides of the fireplace we put up the pallets.

Here are before pictures… (notice the lack of furniture)

During… Note: the TV was on a lot during the project to try and distract the kids from moving around while we worked! Ha!

First House Project

We moved into our new house the last week of August and I was 7 months pregnant! We had hardly any furniture when we moved, we had gave away our couch from the old house and also our little tiny kitchen table. Needless to say our ground floor was empty for about a 3-4 weeks after we moved in. Upstairs we each had a bed and a dresser that was about it, well and then a ton of kid and baby toys!
The first thing I wanted to do when we moved in was paint the nursery and have it all ready for when baby arrived! After that I told my hubby I could put off house projects for a while, but we had to paint the nursery like yesterday! Well at least thats what I thought but weeks after bringing home Peyton I couldn't stop thinking of all the things I wanted to do around the house.

Here are some before and after pictures of the nursery. I loved how calm it felt and was the only room in the house that was "complete" for about 6-7 months! The room was the beige color the rest of the house was so we painted the room a pretty gray color to warm it up. We also refinished a dresser we had in our old master bedroom by painting it white. The crib was our at the time 18month old son had been using. We used the move as a good time to transition him to a big boy bed. He did great!

Hand stenciled accent wall ..sorry if its hard to tell

We added a glider in front of the window shortly after taking these pictures (the curtains aren't quite as bright as they seem to be in the pictures. They are more the "P" coral color more subtle)
